Job Description

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Initiation ofproblem-solving activities relating to quality parameter issues.
  • Performance of in-process and finished goods product testing to ensure that products are within OSC quality standards and food safety. Pull and test product not fulfilling quality standards. Document quality activities to provide a record of quality compliance efforts.
  • Train manufacturing personnel in the quality/food safety system and related quality procedures, responding to food safety/ quality related issues and providing technical assistance as needed. Advise manufacturing personnel on proper product sampling techniques.
  • Administer finished goods and raw material quality holds to ensure that quality/food safety problems are investigated and effectively dealt with. Perform troubleshooting and problem solving relating to quality/food safety parameter issues. Release raw materials for use in production process or release products for shipment when all quality requirements have been met.
  • Display ownership of quality programs and processes, drive quality improvement throughout operations.
  • Assist in preparing the plant for third party audits (SQF, AIB, OSC, etc) as well as regulatory and GMP audits.
  • Oversee the CIP sanitary functions to be in compliance withFood Safety and Qualityrequirement. Assist Operations for the ATP/ microbiological tests and document results to ensure that sanitation standards are compliant.

Minimum Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years of related experience in quality techniques.
  • Good communication skills, including verbal and written communications.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Excel, Red Prairie, SAP or other systems that will perform Code Trace, Lot Trace and review consumer complaints.
  • Must be detail oriented and have ability to accomplish tasks under pressure to achieve deadline commitments.
  • Requires general knowledge of simple chemical testing, such as acid/base titrations, pH meters, spectrophotometer, refractometer, food safety, GMP/food hygiene and thermal process, to include solid math skills.
  • May be required to obtain ASQ certification, if not already certified.
