Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Works collaboratively with the Radiology/Medical Imaging/Diagnostic Center management team, hospital physicians, staff and outside agencies to provide state-of-the-art imaging services in the community. Responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of all Imaging departments. Plans, directs and manages cost effective patient care to assure compliance with standards, policies, procedures and budgets. Ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care through the utilization of appropriate staffing, supplies and equipment in accordance with accreditation and licensing requirements. Responsible for the ongoing development, hiring and evaluation of assigned associates. Accountable for the development/analysis of operational and revenue budgets for all Imaging departments. With the Director, works collaboratively to develop short/long term capital budget requirements for all Radiology departments.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Plan and administer directly, and through supervisory personnel, the effective management and delivery of overall departmental services in accordance with all hospital and regulatory agency standards. Oversee development and maintenance of departmental policies, technical procedures, quality control programs, and operational records.

* Ensures compliance with local, state and federal statutes and hospital and accrediting agency regulations.

* Monitors adherence and initiates corrective action as necessary.

* Interview, hire, evaluate the performance of and, when necessary, discipline of employees within assigned area.

* Approve hiring and discharge recommendations of supervisory personnel.

* Assist supervisory personnel in resolving complex associate relations matters.

* Takes corrective action in response to incident reports and/or patient complaints.

* Plan, develop and monitor operating expense budgets for assigned department(s).

* Monitors adherence to budgets, identifies variances and makes recommendations for adjustments as needed.

* Evaluates and purchases necessary equipment and supplies and recommends capital expenditures.

* Plan, develop and implements new Imaging modalities across the system.

* Participates in developing and implementing marketing strategies appropriate to clinical areas.

* Plan and administer directly through supervision of staff, the integration of clinical, technical and clerical activities for one or more Imaging modalities and/or multiple sites of service.

* Oversee other administrative functions including supply ordering, scheduling, overtime administration and the like.

* Ensures equipment and work area are maintained in a clean and orderly condition, arranging for maintenance and repair as necessary.

* Demonstrate a thorough understanding of department charges, charge order set(s), department CDM management, and charge capture processes (including crediting charges).

* Have the ability to execute charge capture processes including charge reconciliation, monitoring and reconciling gross charges daily and monthly, identify and investigate variances, and ensure resolution of issues.

* Must be proficient on the applicable software systems(s) and how to access and retrieve reports from the diagnostic information technology system.

* Obtain, review, and course correct if necessary multiple areas based on existing operational metrics/scorecards/dashboards.

* Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Integrity/ Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* Bachelor's degree in a health-care related field or equivalent combination of education & radiology experience required

* Bachelor's degree in a health-care related field preferred

* Current certification in at least one of the Radiology Technology disciplines required

* Multiple certifications preferred

* Minimum of 3 years of experience in Radiology required in order to gain full knowledge of tests and procedures, review protocol and work of radiology personnel.

* Minimum of 2 years radiology leadership experience required

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: ABILITIES/SKILLS:

* Interpersonal and communication, both verbal and written, skills necessary in order to effectively exchange information with physicians and other hospital personnel.

* Analytical skills necessary to prepare departmental reports and analyses, recommend policies and procedures, identify problems, work independently, develop systems appropriate for the Radiology department and effectively evaluate Radiology personnel.

* Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications.

* Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for up to 20% of work time.

* Climb or balance, reach with hands, and have manual dexterity and mobility needed for 30%-60% of work time.

* Ability to talk or hear.

* Ability to lift/carry/push/pull objects to ten pounds up to 20% of work time.

* Near Acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less.

* Depth Perception: ability to judge distance and space relationships.

* Field of Vision: ability to see peripherally.

* Accommodation: ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus.

* Color Vision: ability to distinguish and identify different colors.
